Born in Los Angeles in 1913, Everett Ruess was a poet, painter, and adventurer whose restless spirit fueled his life. At the age of twenty-two, he set out on a solo journey into the desert near Moab, Utah. The trip would become known as the "Wandering Hiker" or "Ruess Trail." He was named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century" for his influence on the American West.
